Moscow State Mining University ကို ၁၉၁၈ ခုႏွစ္ စက္တင္ဘာလ ၄ရက္ေန႔တြင္ Moscow Mining Academy အၿဖစ္ စတင္တည္ေထာင္ခဲ႔ပါသည္။ ၁၉၃၀ ခုႏွစ္တြင္ MMA မွသီးၿခား Institute (၆) ခုအၿဖစ္ ခြဲၿခားတည္ေထာင္ခဲ႔သည္။ ဌင္းတို႔အထဲတြင္ Moscow Mining Institute သည္လည္း တစ္ခု အပါအ၀င္ၿဖစ္ခဲ႔သည္။ ၁၉၉၃ ခုႏွစ္ဇြန္လတြင္ MMI မွ MSMU အၿဖစ္တိုးၿမွင္႔ခဲ႔သည္။

Faculty (၁၀) ခုရွိ speciality (၂၁) ဌာနတြင္ Professor (Doctor of Science) ၁၄၆ ဦးႏွင္႔ A.P( Candidate of Science) ၅၄၆ ဦးတို႔ တာ၀န္ထမ္းေဆာင္လွ်က္ရွိၿပီး ေက်ာင္းသားဦးေရ (၇၀၀၀) ေက်ာ္ႏွစ္စဥ္ပညာသင္ၾကားလွ်က္ရွိသည္။
